We operate in the San Luis Valley of southern Colorado. Courses typically take place on the river sections between South Fork and Del Norte, on the Rio Grande river. These stretches offer a great introduction to whitewater with up to class II rapids.

The whitewater playwark in Del Norte serves as one of our main teaching venues. This location is perfect for practicing swift water rescue, but also for learning how to kayak and surf waves. With a convenient location, restrooms, and parking, you can expect many of our lessons to start or finish at this location!

Welcome to the San Luis Valley, home to a whole lot of public lands! There are official campsites nearby at Penitente Canyon, or pull off the road onto BLM land for primitive camping nearby.

There are two clear favorites here:
Mellow Moon Lodge. This is a local staple and features our only local bike shop, as well as really good coffee. Chill vibes at an affordable price.

The Windsor. This renovated building is a Del Norte centerpiece. They have a full restaurant and bar and bring a touch of class to the San Luis Valley.

3 Barrel brewing. Features excellent pizza and locally crafted beers. A must stop when you’re in Del Norte.
Colorado Grille & Taphouse. Local beers on tap and bar food make this an excellent option after a long day on the river.
Simple Foods Market. This is our local grocery store featuring lots of local and organic foods. They also have the best sandwiches in the valley.
